Mir Muhammad Taqi Mir (February 1725 – 20 September 1810), also known as Mir Taqi Mir or Meer Taqi Meer, was an Urdu poet of the 18th century Mughal India, and one of the pioneers who gave shape to the Urdu language itself. He was one of the principal poets of the Delhi School of the Urdu ghazal and is often remembered as one of the best poets of the Urdu language. His takhallus (pen name) was Mir:
Mir is remembered for the practice of Urdu which has a good mix and harmony of Persian and Hindustani words. Mir Takdi Mir saw Delhi torn apart by the attacks of Ahmed Shah Abdali and Nadirshah. The tragedy of this tragedy is reflected in his compositions. He was born in Agra (Akbarpur). His childhood was spent under the supervision of his father. His attitude towards importance in the life of his love and compassion had a profound effect on Mir’s life, which is seen in his Shero as well
